Who are the Best Candidates for Gynecomastia Surgery?

If your appearance causes embarrassment and prevents you from participating in activities you would otherwise enjoy, male breast surgery is a good option. Gynecomastia may occur during puberty or in adulthood. There are some factors known to increase the chances of developing the condition, including:

• Hormonal changes that occur during puberty

‍Description

Consultations are viewed as the beginning of a relationship with patients, during which the surgeon can learn what motivated you to seek surgery. Gynecomastia is overdeveloped glandular breast tissue in males, but there is often an accumulation of fatty tissue as well.

Reducing the size of the breasts may be accomplished by excising tissue or using liposuction to remove localized fat deposits, or often a combination of both.

‍Recovery

The duration of recovery will depend on the type of procedure performed. The recovery period following liposuction alone is shorter than if excision surgery is used. Liposuction is less invasive and many patients can return to jobs that aren’t physically demanding within a few days.

Bruising and swelling are normal following any type of surgery. You will be instructed to wear a compression garment for a period of time after the procedure. Limits on exercise are based on the procedure and the extent of your surgery.
